Well, folks, 2012 has been the year for concerts. We've been fortunate enough to see Machine Head, Ghost and Opeth (twice!), Gigantour with Motorhead and Megadeth, Marilyn Manson, and this week we were treated to Volbeat with Iced Earth and Hell Yeah.
Not enough time to give you the deets on all of them, but I have some fun pics from the Manson show and from the Volbeat show. Check 'em out!
Here's my fav photo from the Manson show back in May. Not bad for a shitty camera phone...
Iced Earth with the new singer Stu Block. We all know Barlow and Ripper were awesome singers for Iced Earth, and Stu picks up right where those guys left off. GREAT new addition to the band!
So, I keep giving Hell Yeah chances, because Vinnie is so frickin' awesome, and I was hoping this live show would convince me. Unfortunately, it only convinced me that Mudvayne guy's voice is super annoying. So shrill and aggravating. And it's a shame, because his clean vocal is decent - I'd much rather he stick with that. Hell Yeah has some great musicians, it's just...gah, that voice!
But, having said that, Vinnie looked like he was having a great time on stage, and really, can any of us ask for much more than that?
It's Volbeat! TD is an uber fan and enjoyed the moshing and crowd surfing. I, on the other hand, enjoyed watching the ten year old boy next to me look like he was having the most awesome time of his life. I repeatedly heard him ask his chaperone, "Can I crowd surf? I want to crowd surf!" He got a, "No, absolutely not" every time. Give it a few more years, little man.
